From young women with dreams

To wise elders with memories

We worked our jobs

….and raised our kids

Squeezing in simple fun

Savoring meals together

Dominoes

Rook

Meditation ……

We took breaks in our friendship

Weeks, months

…even a few years

Here and there

But we always reconnected

Always in sync

Simple talks

….and deep conversation

We believed in goodness

Learning

….and acquiring wisdom

Inside jokes

…..like “Hallmark moments”

She taught me about the book of life.

I paid that wisdom forward

Teaching it to my grands

She loved big

Always expressing it

Her family was treasured

….beyond measure

She was proud

…and strong

Poised and confident

But also confused

…and vulnerable

Just like us all

Figuring out “earth school “

She was a minimalist

Before it was chic and cool

She valued experiences

….not things

I valued her

There will be no reconnection

….this time

Unless she communicates

From beyond

If she chooses to do so

I will smile

…and say welcome my friend
