I was recently introduced to the work of a gay musician
His work was a train wreck of every human emotion
He made me laugh and feel pain
He shocked me and even made me a little uncomfortable
He could slide so easily into a world I have only read about and glimpsed in movies
His raw passion sometimes made me fear for his sanity
But he communicated deeply and sincerely
He pushed me past my comfort level
To feel empathy for LGBTQ people
And anger at the world for being so ignorant and hateful
He is real
Much of the world is not
He owns his genuineness
Much of the world does not
